Based on the latest .NET development tools Aspirations uses ActiveX and
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database technologies for scalability and
interoperability. It incorporates a Web-browser, Internet communications
services, XML support, and virtual private networking. Aspirations ActiveX
controls can be invoked from HTML, JavaScript, or VBScript, providing a bridge
for information exchange between a Web server and the point of sale system.
Data from an on-going POS transaction can be sent via this bridge to the
corporate Web site, and vice versa. Scripts can be created for applications
where the POS system needs to request a program or a query to un on the
corporate server and the returned data can be automatically entered into the
current sales transaction.
In-store point-of-sale, inventory control, supply management, shipping, and
retail management functions are included in Aspirations. Aspirations handles
all sales transactions using a user friendly touch enabled interface, which
looks like a typical sales ticket. Items are scanned or keyed in and displayed
instantly. With a second monitor acting as a customer information display,
companies can broadcast on-line advertising and web promotions and show them on
the same screen as the receipt display. The software handles layaways and
on-account transactions as simply as cash sales. It provides complete invoice
histories for full reporting, allows multi-tendering and online credit card
authorization, and accepts Euro and foreign currencies, split payments, and
Points.
